Choctaw Nation reburies warrior

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2001 The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma last month reburied the remains of a warrior who who walked the Trail of Tears. Although he had been originally buried in Oklahoma, the man is the first the tribe has reburied in the Choctaw's traditional homelands in Mississippi. The man was accidentally unearthed in 1939 and then was put on display by a museum. The tribe began effors to repatriate him a year ago after learning of his existence. Get the Story:
