Runners from the Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana have completed the re-enactment of an escape their ancestors attempted after being imprisoned by the U.S. Army.

Joined along the way by Oglala Lakota and Northern Arapaho runners, the group left Fort Robinson, Nebraska, on Saturday. They ended up 400 miles later near the site where the remains of those ancestors who died were reburied in 1993.

Called the Break Out run, it was started by Phillip Whiteman Jr. to commemorate the escape.
