A property owners group in Bozeman, Montana, is hoping to fend off future coalbed methane development by altering zoning regulations.

Drilling is allowed in Bridger Canyon on a conditional use basis. The opponents want drilling eliminated in agricultural areas.

Region 8 of the Environmental Protection Agency has proposed standards affecting coalbed development. The standards will affect development in Indian Country, should tribes allow it.
