MONDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2001 The Environmental Protection Agency has delayed a water project because the the Oneida Nation of New York wasn't consulted. The EPA is withholding funds for the $1.3 million waterline in Verona because the town's environmental review did not take into account potential impacts to agricultural land and on prehistoric artifacts. Although the tribe was not consulted as required by federal law, the town says the tribe isn't causing the delay. The tribe is now working with the EPA to get the project started again.
