Tribe Corps to work on reburial

NOVEMBER 3, 2000 The Yankton Sioux Tribe and the Army Corps of Engineers will be meeting next week to decide how best to rebury human remains the Corps failed to take care of in the 1950s. But if the two can't agree, a federal judge will decide how to proceed. The Corps is currently mapping the area around Fort Randall Dam to find out where the remaining bodies are located. The Corps was supposed to remove and rebury the remains when the dam was constructed. But remains have been resurfacing ever since. Get the Story:
