State seeks snowmobile intervention

MARCH 21, 2001 Wyoming Governor Jim Geringer on Tuesday said the state wants to intervene in a lawsuit challenging a ban on snowmobile use in Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park. The ban, instituted by the Clinton administration, has been targeted by a number of Republican lawmakers and Western Governors. It bans snowmobile use in most national parks and phases out snomowbiles in Grand Teton and Yellowstone by 2003-2004. The suit Geringer seeks to join was filed by the International Snowmobile Manufacturers’ Association and the Wyoming State Snowmobile Association. Get the Story:
