Tribes in the Klamath River Basin met with irrigators, environmentalists, fisherman, and government agencies on Monday to try and work out an agreement over a water project.

The groups met in federal court in Oregon because irrigators have sued the Department of Interior over its Klamath River operations. The Interior has set mininum water levels in order to protect endangered sucker fish in Upper Klamath Lake and threatened coho salmon in the Klamath River and as a result, will deny water to farmers in the area.

A federal judge has temporarily barred distribution of water to farmers until it can be shown threatened coho won't be hurt.
