MAY 10, 2001

In an attempt to win over groups who overwhelmingly supported Al Gore during the Presidential campaign, the White House has invited leaders of labor unions for a private preview of the Bush administration's energy policy on Monday.

The Teamsters and Laborers International unions are among those who will be present at the meeting with Vice President Dick Cheney and Labor Secretary Elaine Chao. Both groups are in favor of drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, a controversial component of the energy policy.
