MAY 23, 2000 Alvin Warren, Santa Clara Pueblo information officer, told the Santa Fe New Mexican on Monday that the tribe is working on determining a monetary value on the amount of damage the Cerro Grande fire has caused to sacred sites on the Pueblo's northern New Mexico reservation. He said the total "is going to be bad." The fire has so far damaged 15 percent of the tribe's land, threatening hunting grounds, economic livelihood, and cultural practices of the tribe.
