Calif. to sue for energy price caps

MAY 30, 2001 After being rebuffed by President Bush, California Governor Gray Davis on Tuesday said he would sue the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for failing to impose price caps on the price of energy. Bush opposes caps and says there is no way the government can control the price of electricity. He blames California for its problems and says the solution has to come from the state. While in California, Bush yesterday said he has asked Congress for $150 million in low-income energy assistance, in addition to the $300 million his budget requests. Get the Story:
