Clinton declares disaster

JUNE 28, 2000

President Clinton declared the the Turtle Mountain Ojibwe and Spirit Lake reservations in North Dakota disaster areas. The two were among the areas in the state hard hit by heavy flooding and ground saturation starting June 12.

Governor Ed Schafer signed a federal disaster report on Monday June 26. It was submitted to the Federal Emergency Management Agency and forwarded to President Clinton.
