THURSDAY, JULY 19, 2001 A federal judge in New Mexico has rejected a recommendation made by the special master in a water rights case affecting the rights of Nambe Pueblo. US District Judge Edwin L. Mechem rejected the recommendation that the tribe does not have the right to seek water for 167 acres of land beyond its original Spanish land grant. He will consider at a future date the extent of those rights. Get the Story:
