US Department of Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman on Tuesday said her agency will begin using bio-diesel and ethanol fuels in some of its vehicles.

The USDA would use vegetable based fuels in some vehicles and blended ethanol fuels in others. About 1500 vehicles would be affected.

In March, Secretary of Interior Gale Norton told Congress that the National Park Service uses bio-diesel fuels in some of its vehicles. She said the exhaust from a vehicle that uses potato-based fuel smells like french fries.
