FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2001

Sen. Frank Murkowski (R-Alaska), a supporter of opening up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas development, wants United States intelligence forces to find out if Middle Eastern oil interests have funded Osama bin Laden.

The United States gets most of its oil from overseas, including the Middle East. Murkowski has favored increasing domestic supplies to reduce dependence on the foreign sources.
