Proposed trail route avoids Native land

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2001 Alaska Governor Tony Knowles today will be proposing a plan for a trail along the upper Copper River he hopes will not draw opposition from an Alaska Native corporation. Chugach Alaska had opposed the trail passing from Chitina to Cordova. The corporation owns land in the region. Knowles will also offer a proposal for a southern extension of the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. Get the Story:
