Navajo Nation N.M. to consider water

The Navajo Nation and the state of New Mexico on Wednesday agreed to negotiate a water rights settlement in the San Juan River basin.

The tribe and the state have been negotiating since 1997 on water rights. The new agreement could lead to a settlement within 18 months, said the state's engineer.
