Officials for a Nevada county are recommending a controversial kitty litter mine be denied.

In a report, the staff for the Washoe County Planning Commission says the mine would negatively impact the environment. But the report specifically points out that the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony would be the most affected.

Oil-Dri Corp wants to open a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week kitty mine operation on land adjoining the Reno-Sparks Reservation.
