Agreement made on kitty litter mine

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2001

Opponents of a kitty litter mine and the company that wants to operate it have come to an agreement over a reclamation permit issued by the state of Nevada.

Members of the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony and a group called Great Basin Mine Watch will be allowed to review calculations used for the bond amount of the permit. They had been concerned it was too low.

The tribe and the group, however, aren't dropping their opposition to the mine. They just are working more closely with the company, Oil-Dri Corp.
