Cell tower company rejecting offers

After pleding to work with New Mexico residents, a cellular phone tower company has rejected their suggestions for a proposed tower near Pecos National Historical Park and Pueblo religious sites.

SBA Towers Inc. said two alternatives suggested by residents are not viable. The company rejected them in documents sent to the Federal Communications Commission, which has to approve the tower.

Residents and Jemez Pueblo complained about the tower's first location. The Pueblo eased its opposition, saying its access to religious sites wasn't being denied.

Local residents, however, remained concerned. SBA told The Albuquerque Journal it wants to resolve uncertainties as soon as possible.
