Report says lynx study not hurt

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2002 An internal government report concludes that state and federal scientists did not intend to undermine a lynx study when they submitted fake samples to a testing lab. The report, commissioned by the U.S. Forest Service, states that the scientists acted because they were concerned about the results they were getting from the lab. Nevertheless, investigator Scott Mills says they shouldn't have tried to fool anyone. Republicans have used the controversy as an excuse to try and change endangered species law. Secretary of Interior Gale Norton has been receptive to changes and promised a full investigation of her own. Get the Story:
