The White Mountain Apache of Arizona and federal officials signed an agreement on Wednesday to allow up to six packs of the endangered Mexican gray wolf to roam on the reservation.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is trying to recover the wolf population. Officials believe the reservation will be a better environment because the animals are dying off elsewhere, in part due to intentional shootings.
