Interior panel endorses fish project

FRIDAY, APRIL 26, 2002 A Department of Interior panel has approved an experimental project aimed at saving an endangered fish in the Grand Canyon. The vote was 17 to 1, with one member abstaining. According to The New York Times, tribal members of the panel were in support. The project would flood part of the Colorado River to help the humpback chub, an endangered species, and control the rainbow trout population, which is suspected of eating the chub. Get the Story:
