SEPTEMBER 14, 2000

Karen Somerville, spokesperson for the Burnt Church Mi'kmaq First Nation of New Brunswick, says the band's meeting with mediator Bob Rae may not occur at all, due to a raid of fisherman on Tuesday.

The raid resulted in the seizure of several boats and the arrest of 16, including Chief Wilbur Dedam.

Meanwhile, about 30 women and children occupied an office of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans for about two hours on Wednesday night.
