Donald Marshall Jr., the Mi'kmaq man whose fight against the federal government brought about the historic Supreme Court decision affirming the treaty rights of Mi'kmaq and Maliseet nations in the maritimes, led a peaceful protest march in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on Thursday.

About 100 people participated in the noon-hour march. He said negotiations need to continue and that Native fisherman will settle for nothing less than equal access to the fishery.

Another march is scheduled for tomorrow in Halifax on Treaty Day, which marks the anniversary of the 1752 Treaty of Friendship and Peace between the British Crown and the Mi'kmaq.
