NOVEMBER 14, 2000

The Environmental Protection Agency on Monday said the risk of consumers eating a genetically-modified corn product not meant for human consumption is low.

The amount of a product called StarLink still in the consumer market is unknown. But the EPA says its not incredibly large.

The EPA is preparing to hold public meetings on whether or not to approve temporarily StarLink for human use. For more information about the decision and how to submit comments, visit the EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs at www.epa.gov/pesticides/biopesticides.
