Julian Bond, chairman of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) spoke on Indian housing on Monday at the National American Indian Housing Council conference being held at the Mashantucket Pequot reservation in Connecticut.

Bond was invited to be the keynote speaker and spoke on the history of racism for African-Americans. Although he has never had any involvement in Indian issues and his speech did not center on any Indian related problems, he said he would consider getting more involved.

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut are co-hosting this year's housing conference. The 26th Annual Convention ends June 14.
