Senate panel approves uranium fund

JUNE 22, 2001

The Senate Appropriations Committee on Thursday approved $84 million to continue paying miners and families for exposure to uranium during the Cold War.

Most of the affected are Navajo miners who worked in the Four Corners area. Many of their claims have been put off by the government because funding has run out.
