Lawsuit targets death of Navajo woman

SEPTEMBER 28, 2000 A lawsuit has been filed against the Kane County Hospital in southern Utah, alleging the hospital failed to administer care for a Navajo Nation woman because of her lack of insurance and her race. Maeta Navajo was injured in a 1999 car accident. At the hospital, a doctor allegedly told her she could not be treated there because she didn't have health insurance and instead told her to go to a hospital in Tuba City, Arizona. The suit was filed in the US District Court for the District of Utah. Get the Story:
