Audit highlights disabled discrimination

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2001 The Department of Housing and Urban Development today will release a report on the enforcement of anti-discrimination laws aimed at protecting the disabled. According to a copy obtained by the Associated Press, discrimination against the disabled is rampant. Of the more than 12,000 complaints HUD received during a two-year period, almost 98 percent of cases involved discrimination. The report also says HUD doesn't move fast enough on complaints filed by the disabled. The report is authored by the National Council on Disability. Get the Story:
