Guilty plea in IHS drug fraud case

TUESDAY, JANUARY 29, 2002

A Montana woman pleaded guilty in federal court on Monday to six counts of possession of controlled substances by fraud or misrepresentation.

Joyce La Forge, 52, admitted filing prescriptions for a painkiller drug written by a nurse practitioner at the Indian Health Service hospital on the Crow Reservation. She will be sentenced May 8.

The nurse, Denise Willet, faces charges along with five others.
