Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor on Thursday said a landmark disability rights law was vague, leading to negative decisions limiting its scope.

O'Connor said the Americans With Disabilities Act was rushed through Congress by lawmakers who didn't consider all the uncertainties. So the Court has to step in an resolve disputes, she said.

The Court in the current and past term has accepted a number of challenges to the law. The cases have drawn high-profile attention, including from former President George H. W. Bush, who signed the act into law.
