Native men in Florida are heading up single families more than their non-Indian counterparts.

About 3.3 percent of the state's Native households are headed by single Indian men, according to Census Bureau data. This compares to 2 percent statewide.

Among the Seminole Tribe, the rates rise. Nearly 4 percent of Seminole families are headed by a single male.

In one particular county, 10.2 percent of Seminole families were headed by males. Similarly, more single Native women are head of households than their counterparts.
