Terena Tribe takes hostages in Brazil

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2001 Brazillian officials on Wednesday said the Terena Tribe has taken 13 reporters hostage to protest a stalled land deal. The federal government promised the tribe some land but a strike has held the transfer up, said officials. The reporters seized were covering the tribe's blockade of a highway. Get the Story:
