A Bogota, Columbia court gave the American company Occidental Petroleum approval to begin drilling oil near the U'wa Nation reserve on the border of Venezuela. The U'wa have long protested the action, threatening mass suicides several years ago. The U'wa have vowed to continue to fight the decision.
