Tribe re-emerges in protes

AUGUST 18, 2000 The Naua tribe, thought to be extinct in Brazil, has re-emerged from deep within the Amazon jungle in protest of a national park created on their land. No humans are allowed to live in the park so the National Indian Foundation says they have to find the 250-member tribe land on which to live. The Foundation said the last known document on the once populous tribe was a 1906 newspaper article which announced the marriage of the last Naua woman. Get the Story:
