Alaska Natives from throughout the state are gathering this week for the annual Alaska Federation of Natives Convention in Anchorage.

Alaska Native youth and elders have been meeting in conferences since Monday and will continue until Wednesday. On Thursday, the main conference begins and a major focus will be on putting Alaska Native issues in the international spotlight.

Issues like subsistence and inadequate funding are top priority for the convention. The convention also includes a popular arts and crafts market.
