Border security to be tightened

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2001 In response to September 11's terrorist attacks, the United States will be increasing border security. New high-tech visa cards with increased security measures are already in use at the Mexican border. Changes are due at the Canadian border as well, which could affect the St. Regis Mohawk Reservation in New York. Congress is also promising more money to the Immigration and Naturalization Service to increase screening and tracking of foreign nationals. The FBI says some of the 19 alleged hijackers overstayed their visas. Get the Story:
