BIA officer injured in armed standoff

OCTOBER 26, 2000 BIA office Conrad Stops was hospitalized at the IHS hospital in Crow Agency after an armed confrontation with a man on the Crow Reservation in Montana. Stops was allegedly choked by a Billings man who had entered a private area of the reservation.. The man also allegedly aimed his rifle at the game wardens, who said he had been drinking. The man was arrested after a standoff between Crow game wardens and additional BIA and local police. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and might be charged with assault of a federal officer. Get the Story:
