Pueblos city propose agreement

NOVEMBER 21, 2000 New Mexico's 19 Pueblos and the city of Albuquerque have proposed an agreement over the property that housed the former Albuquerque Indian School. The 50-year agreement was introduced at the city council meeting on Monday. The city would have approval over any development of the land, which is owned by the Pueblos. The land was placed into trust by the Department of Interior in 1993. But a lawsuit by a local group led to a judge to require the Interior to reconsider the decision. Get the Story:
