Pequot tribe votes out incumbents

NOVEMBER 6, 2000 Voters of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation ousted two out of three incumbents in elections for council on Sunday. Gary A. Carter and Antonio M. Beltran lost their seats to Charlene R. Jones and Fatima C. Dames. Only Michael J. Thomas kept his seat. The election of Jones and Dames breaks the all-male council. Get the Story:
