Ariz. tribe might expand liquor sales

MARCH 15, 2001 The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community of Arizona next Tuesday will hold a referendum to decide if liquor should be sold outside the tribe's casino. The tribe previously voted down a similar measure in April 1999. Opponents say legalization will only lead to domestic abuse and violence while proponents say it could bring in money for the tribe. The only reservation in the state where liquor sales outside a casino have been legalized is at Fort Apache. Get the Story:
