Tribe wants to join recognition lawsuit

MARCH 5, 2001 The Eastern Pequot Tribe on Friday joined the Paucatuck Eastern Pequot Tribe in attempting to intervene in a lawsuit that seeks to rescind their preliminary federal recognition. Both tribes were granted preliminary recognition in March 2000. The state of Connecticut filed a lawsuit in January against the Department of Interior, hoping to overturn the decisions.
