APRIL 3, 2001

The Connecticut State Legislature's Judiciary Committee will hold an educational forum on sovereignty issues May 1.

The forum is designed to inform lawmakers about federal Indian policy, say organizers. It won't address currently controversial issues in the state like land-into-trust or federal recognition.

Russ Lehman of the First Americans Education Project (FAEP) told Indianz.Com he is helping organize the forum. FAEP held a similar session for state lawmakers in Washington.
