Sam Gejdenson, the Connecticut lawmaker who helped the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation receive federal recognition and resolve their land claims through a legislative act is convinced of the tribe's rightful claims of a genealogical relationship to the historic Pequot tribe.

Gejdenson also says local town officials and residents upset with the land claims of the Pequot need to resolve their disputes in court with the tribe, not Congress. Involving Congress is not an option, according to Gejdenson.

Gejdenson's comments come in light of a book Without Reservation which paints the Representative and his office in an unfavorable light, alleging Congress was misled in passing the 1983 Mashantucket Pequot Settlement Act.
