The Tribal Council of the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska has suspended chief tribal judge Jerre William Moreland. The move came Tuesday after the council reviewed a report alleging civil-rights violations of defendants in his court. Moreland has also been the subject of two federal lawsuits and a campaign by tribal members to have him removed. The BIA will assist the tribe in locating an associate judge.
