Tribe may remove chairman

MAY 4, 2000 The Oneida Nation of Wisconsin may remove tribal chairman Gerald Danforth. He is accused by tribal members of violating his oath of office. A petition was submitted in February with 92 signatures. 50 are required to call a meeting over removing a chairman. Danforth was elected last July. Staff and news wires contributed to this report.
