MAY 8, 2001

The leaders of three Connecticut towns who are fighting three Pequot tribes on a number of issues plan to meet with Hispanic and African-American lawmakers tomorrow in hopes of proving their actions are not racially motivated.

The leaders are meeting with the minority members after several raised concerns that their request for more casino money was based on race. Some minority lawmakers have also questioned funding requests to monitor the federal recognition process.
