MAY 9, 2000

A power struggle among the Hoh tribe has pitted family against family in the tiny 280-member tribe. Allegations of corruption have crippled the tribal government, resulting in employees going for pay without weeks and the street lights being shut off by the power company for lack of payment. The BIA is carefully monitoring the flow of funds to the tribe and may step in and take control of public services that are paid for with federal money.
