Ashcroft to beef up Mohawk surveillance

JUNE 21, 2001 Attorney General John Ashcroft on Wednesday said he is sending a border enforcement team to the Mohawk Akwesasne Reservation in New York. Ashcroft will send a new Integrated Border Enforcement Team, or I-BETS, unit to the reservation. The reservation has been used to smuggle drugs and other goods to and from the United States.
