JUNE 22, 2001 The Confederated Colville Tribes of Washington will go ahead with council elections on Saturday with contested candidate Lou Stone still on the ballot. Stone, who is a current council member, is accused of violating campaign rules and was fined $250 for printing the tribal telephone number on a campaign flyer. But he is challenging the action because he says another candidate and current council member was admonished yet not fined for a similar infraction. Rather than disrupt the election, the tribe's election committee agreed to let Stone's case go to trial. Get the Story:
